About Us

Patricia Varga | Founder

A Woman with Wings began in July of 1993 when founder Patricia Varga picked up a pen and started writing about the journey of Woman ... her challenges and fears, her joys ... and how she ultimately learns to mentor herself and then other women. The resulting manuscript "A Woman with Wings: The Journey" is the basis for all of Wings products, services and programs. Please see About Wings.

A veteran executive of publishing and media, Patricia has worked on a wide range of publications, including Outside Magazine, Men’s Health, Elle Decor, House Beautiful, Town & Country, Business 2.0, The Los Angeles Times, The New Yorker and The Economist/economist.com. Varga has also worked in sales, marketing and content development for companies such as Times-Mirror, Conde Nast, Hearst, and Hachette. She is currently a partner at My Media Inc, a media company that publishes peer-to-peer networking websites for Sr. Level Executives, and also an independent publisher's representative for Time, Inc's Kids Brands.

Patricia and her father, Dr. Alexander Varga, founded The Women with Wings Foundation, a 501 c3 in early 2013, so Ms. Varga could concentrate on her Wings Work.  The Foundation, a teaching foundation, offers healthcare professionals The Enlightened Listening program, which includes the Create to Heal (tm) workshops and the Gems of Joy (tm) program. She also works with Haven House, a domestic violence crisis shelter, where she teaches creativity to abused women in transition.  Similarly, at the Glendale Adventist Medical Center, and also at The Huntington Hospital, Patricia leads creativity workshops for patients with cancer and their families. At GAMC, she also works directly with the oncology nurses, taking her Wings Ministry directly in-room to patients too ill to join class.  Varga also works with A Window between Worlds, teaching her workshops to domestic violence survivors and shelter leaders. Her creativity cards under the Message in the Moment trademark, and her inspirational workshops are now being used in domestic violence shelters throughout the U.S. and internationally.

Varga is a graduate of Stanford University and Harvard's Publishing Procedures Program. She continues her education and love of visual communication at Art Center College of Design, Pasadena, California.
