I am delighted to introduce our Wings' artist Laura Berry. Laura was introduced to me by a mutual friend, Meridee Alter, and we've been working together on various programs and projects ever since.  Laura's Wings earrings, bracelets and necklaces are a big hit with oncology nurses, patients and their families.  Once a patient makes it through their protocol, often chemo, surgery and radiation, they receive their pair of WINGS, as a reminder that they are free to continue with their lives, they too can fly!

 Laura tells us:

“To me, Art has always been healing.  Growing up in the Midwest inside a dysfunctional family, I sought an interior space in which I could escape and art allowed me to do that.  I began making jewelry at age 10 and still use the trusty set of pliers that I had way back then!  These days I use a number of different tools and I'm always drawn to discovering new mediums to express visually.

I have been a part of an Art Journaling group for six years and through these explorations I have come to appreciate how wonderful it is to create in a group!  It reminds me of the way women gathered and shared in quilting bees but instead of quilts we journey inward via writing and mixed media.

I have a particular love for three dimensional work as in my jewelry and found object assemblage … taking things that have been discarded and puzzling them together into a piece that becomes a sort of visual story telling.

Art is empowering and transformative for me.  My subconscious speaks through the finished piece and gives me a new way to understand myself and my world.  When I realized what a gift the art journey is I wanted to share it.  I began facilitating creativity workshops with women utilizing nature, intuition, and intention to create power objects.  You can imagine how happy I was to meet Patricia Varga, founder of The Women with Wings Foundation. She is a kindred spirit in utilizing creativity to support healing at all levels!  I am so happy to be associated with her important work and to be a featured artist on!”
